“When you have a lot of confidence and you feel like nobody can beat you, it’s game over for everyone else.”
– Jason Day
Confidence and self-esteem are not something you are born with, you have to build them through your life. It is not an overnight thing, it is more like a constant exercise, like building muscles. You don’t just go out one day and run a full marathon. No. You have to train, build your muscles and endurance and then run a half-marathon. Then you keep practicing and after some time you are ready for a full marathon.
It is the same with self-confidence, what you do on daily basis counts. All those little steps add up and you end up with an awesome result.
I’m sure you are now wondering what those steps are…
Here are a few simple things you can do to boost your confidence
✓ Visualize yourself as you want to be
Visualizations are a very powerful tool. They help us go through an experience like it’s real. What that does to our mind is basically “trick” it to feel like we did it before, and if you’ve already done something means that you can do it again. When we visualize our goals every day, we are creating an experience in our mind like we already achieved it, and therefore it’s much easier for us to do it in reality because our mind knows exactly how to do it, all it needs to do is repeat the experience.
✓ Affirm yourself
Throughout the day we spend time in different places and with different people, they all come and go, we can listen to them or we don’t have to. But the person we spend the most time with is ourselves. That is why it is very important what we are saying to ourselves, the thought that we are having, and how we feel about ourselves. Affirmations represent positive, supportive talk, that can help us feel better and love ourselves more.
✓ Do one thing that scares you every day
The worst thing you can do to yourself is to stay stuck in the comfort zone. Here you don’t grow or improve, you just run in circles. Yes, it is scary to take a leap of faith and step out, but you don’t have to do it that way. If you do 1 small thing that scares you every day you are slowly stretching your boundaries and you improve and grow on a daily basis without ever feeling scared or uncertain.
✓ Help someone else
You can build self-confidence by helping someone else. When we are helping others we feel better about ourselves too. We feel like we are doing something bigger than us, that we are changing other people’s lives.
✓ Care for yourself
You cannot build true self-confidence if you don’t care and love yourself. If you don’t feel you are worthy you won’t trust yourself and therefore have really low self-esteem and confidence. So, start caring for yourself. Start eating healthier, start exercising, read a book, enjoy a bubble bath, go for a walk, treat yourself with some piece of clothes or take a night off and enjoy with your friends.
Let me know what you are doing on a daily basis that is building and keeping high your self-confidence.
